This August I swapped storm chasing for Eclipse chasing and with Issy (and Isaac Newton) as my co pilot , this made finding a spot for totality somewhat easier, and the chasing somewhat more stationary!
I had hoped to image the eclipse via a telescope however aligning with the sun and not blinding yourself is difficult, opting for continued vision I decided to focus on enjoying the experience and avoid burning my retinas.

Before the midday sun got the better of me I was able to get this image of the sun and some fairly impressive sunspots- I think these are about the size of planet earth!

About 3 to 4 minutes before totality the suns light was noticeably reduced and took on a ethereal hue that is hard to explain and even harder to capture on camera.

The surrounding mountains during totality-it was quite dark.

This is the best photo I have of totality, to the eye it was much more spectacular with the Sun’s corona clearly visible.
